Sunshine thoughts on a better world, to win over hate with love

The morning sun’s rays find their way through the thick curtains of my bedroom window & I wake up right away. I have always been a light sleeper - the slightest disturbance, and sleep deserts me.

 

Just like my mind which at the slightest provocation leads to a cascade of thoughts that engulfs my whole being.

I check the time on my phone and habitually my messages and FB feed as well. As I scroll through the horrible stuff (rapes,honour killings, shootings and suicides) we call news today, the spark in my mind had already begun.

 

I close my eyes shut and feel myself being sucked into my messy thoughts, the primary one being – “Where & when did we begin to fail as humans?”

Was it when we were taught never to give up on our goals/ideologies/dreams/desires at all costs?

Making life’s choices

“It is your choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities” - Anyone familiar with the Harry Potter saga would definitely be aware of this advice given by Dumbledore to Harry.

The above quote had been close to my heart ever since I first read it. Not only for Harry in the wizarding world, it holds a deeper meaning that can be attributed to our everyday ordinary human lives as well.

​

In our society, we are made to believe that we have only few major life choices to make in the course of our lifetime.

​

But if I sit back and reflect, I realize one makes innumerable amount of choices every waking moment of our lives. We may not realize the magnitude or the consequences of our choices – but indeed they drive how the world functions.
